Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan have completed the signing of France-born midfielder of Senegalese descent Andy Diouf.
The club announced the acquisition of the youngster in an official statement on Friday, August 22.
Diouf, a product of the renowned Stade Rennais academy, began his professional journey with his boyhood club before moving to Switzerland on loan with Basel during the 2022/23 season. His performances impressed enough to secure a permanent transfer in the summer of 2023, though he would not feature again for the Swiss side.
His progress soon drew attention from Ligue 1 outfit RC Lens, who, after qualifying for the UEFA Champions League and strengthening their squad with big-money signings, secured Diouf for €14 million, making him the club’s third most expensive arrival in history.
At Lens, the France youth international spent two full seasons, making 68 appearances across domestic and European competitions and scoring two goals. Despite showing glimpses of promise, many felt he never quite reached his full potential in northern France.
Now, at just 21 years old, Diouf begins a fresh chapter in Italy with Inter Milan, where he will look to develop further and establish himself on one of Europe’s biggest stages.
