Inter maintain pursuit of Liverpool’s Curtis Jones with midfield deal still in sight

Inter are preparing a fresh bid for Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones as they continue to regard the England international as their leading midfield target.

The Italian club has renewed contact with Jones’ representatives and is expected to hold further discussions in the coming period, according to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano. Those conversations are being held as Inter work towards submitting another proposal to Liverpool for the 24-year-old.

Romano said Inter’s next move is not dependent on the departure of another player from the club. That means the Serie A side is pursuing Jones directly rather than waiting for a potential sale to create the conditions for the deal.

“Inter are preparing a new bid for Curtis Jones as he remains the top target in midfield since January. More contacts will take place soon as Inter spoke to his camp again and new bid is not linked to any other exit. All depends on club to club agreement with Liverpool.”

Any transfer remains dependent on Liverpool and Inter reaching an agreement. Talks between the two clubs have yet to produce a final deal, with the financial and contractual terms still to be settled.

Jones has remained a consistent target for Inter since January and has become the club’s top priority for reinforcement in midfield. The latest reports indicate that the Italian side wants to reopen negotiations by presenting an improved offer after previously monitoring the possibility of completing the transfer for €30m at the start of the current summer window.

Inter’s renewed approach underlines their determination to continue pursuing the Liverpool player, despite the absence of a completed agreement between the clubs. The next stage of the process will involve further contact with Jones’ camp and discussions between Liverpool and Inter over the proposed fee and wider terms.

For now, the transfer is not close enough to be considered concluded. Inter are planning another attempt, while Liverpool and the Italian club remain the parties responsible for deciding whether the proposed move can progress.

Jones, who has come through Liverpool’s system, remains at the centre of Inter’s plans for the midfield position. However, the club-to-club agreement highlighted by Romano has still not been reached, leaving the outcome of the negotiations unresolved.
