The reigning champions, Al Ahly, secured their spot in the final after defeating Ceramica Cleopatra in the semifinals on Monday. However, their victory was marred by injuries to key players.
El-Shennawy sustained an injury during the first half, prompting his substitution by Mustafa Schubert. Yasser Ibrahim, on the other hand, was replaced by Rami Rabia in the second half due to injury.
Speaking on the condition of El-Shennawy, Al Ahly’s goalkeeping coach, Michel Yankon, stated, “Mohamed El-Shennawy will undergo urgent examinations, and there doesn’t seem to be anything serious regarding his injury. We have a large group of top-notch goalkeepers, including Mustafa Schubert, Mustafa Mekhloufi, and Hamza Alaa, all performing at their best.”
Despite the setbacks, Al Ahly remains confident in their goalkeeper options as they prepare for the final against Modern Future scheduled for Thursday. Modern Future secured their place in the final by defeating Pyramids in a penalty shootout, with a remarkable 14-13 victory after a goalless draw in regular time, showcasing their resilience in a dramatic semi-final encounter.
