Ousmane Dembélé strikes early as PSG dominate Lyon

France forward of Malian descent, Ousmane Dembélé, is set for a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a calf injury during Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.

The French club confirmed that the Ballon d’Or-winning winger has suffered a left calf injury and will continue treatment throughout the international break.

This latest setback adds to a difficult period for the 28-year-old, who has battled multiple injuries over the past six months, missing more than fifteen matches in all competitions.

Despite his commitment to physical conditioning, Dembélé’s return to consistent form and fitness has been hindered by recurring knocks.

France head coach Didier Deschamps expressed sympathy for the attacker, describing the situation as unfortunate.

“I’m especially sad for Ous. He was spared last season, and now he’s picking up several injuries in different areas. It’s not ideal not to have him with us… He has to do everything necessary to come back and get back on the pitch,” Deschamps said.

While PSG has not provided full details regarding the severity of the injury, reports from Le Parisien indicate that the winger could return to action by the end of November.

The club’s medical staff are expected to conduct a follow-up assessment within the next two weeks to finalise his recovery plan.

If all goes well, Dembélé could make his comeback in PSG’s Champions League encounter against Tottenham Hotspur on November 26.
