Imam Jagne: IFK Goteborgs Sweden-Gambia midfielder linked with move to Volos NFC in Greek Super League 1 switch
Sweden-Gambia midfielder Imam Jagne of IFK Goteborg is being linked with a move to Greek side Volos NFC as the Super League 1 club assess central midfield options for the new season.
Jagne, 22, is under contract with Goteborg until 31 December 2028, meaning any deal would require the Greeks to negotiate a transfer fee rather than pursue a free move. The central midfielder currently carries a market valuation of around 400,000, providing an early indication of the level at which Goteborg might be willing to engage in talks.
The former Everton youth player joined Goteborg from Allsvenskan rivals Mjallby AIF in January 2025 for a fee of 440,000 and has since been part of their first-team set-up. In the current Allsvenskan campaign he has featured in six of Goteborgs 12 league matches, albeit with limited minutes and no goals or assists so far, a usage pattern that could strengthen the case for a summer departure if a suitable offer arrives.
Jagne, who stands at 1.84m and operates primarily as a central midfielder, has experience in both Swedish top-flight football and English academy structures following his earlier spell with Evertons Under-18s. Goteborg invested significantly when bringing him back to Sweden, and with more than two years left on his deal the club are in a strong position to influence any negotiations with Volos.
For now, Jagne remains an IFK Goteborg player preparing for the remainder of the Allsvenskan season, with Volos interest yet to progress into a completed agreement.
