Barcelona forward, Lamine Yamal, has addressed his ongoing contract discussions with the club, assuring that there are no fears of it being concluded soon.
Currently, the 17-year-old of Moroccan and Equatorial Guinean descent’s contract is set to expire in 2026.
However, he has expressed a desire to focus solely on his performance for the remainder of the season, stating that he will not engage in renewal talks until its conclusion.
This season, Yamal has been instrumental in Barcelona’s campaign, contributing 13 goals and 17 assists across all competitions.
His impressive form has not only solidified his position within the team but also garnered international recognition.
Notably, he was honored with the Golden Boy award, presented annually to the best male player under 21 by Italian newspaper Tuttosport.
Despite the accolades, Yamal remains grounded, emphasizing team achievements over individual honors.
He has articulated ambitions to win the UEFA Champions League with Barcelona and to secure a World Cup victory with Spain.
Reflecting on his future, Yamal envisions himself continuing at Barcelona, aiming to win every possible trophy with the club.
“I think that now no one is thinking about this, that we are all focused on finishing the season with titles.
“Right now I only think about playing and winning with Barça. Now comes the decisive part of the season and in my head there is only this. I will not talk about renewal until the end of the season.”
Quizzed about a future Ballon d’Or victory, Yamal also said: “Well, the most important thing is that Barça wins titles and everything else will come by itself.
“It’s something that comes with collective titles, which is what I’m most impatient for.”
