Brentford manager Thomas Frank has highlighted the upcoming battle between Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez and his Cameroonian winger Bryan Mbeumo as a key contest in their Premier League clash this weekend.
Brentford are aiming to recover from a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa, while Bournemouth, winless in their last four matches, will be eager to secure a much-needed victory at home.
Frank, speaking in his press conference, praised Kerkez for his performances this season and expressed his excitement about the head-to-head matchup.
“I think Kerkez has been very good, probably one of the best-performing left-backs this season,” Frank said. “Keane Lewis-Potter is up there as well, of course. Kerkez has been good, and it’s going to be a fantastic battle between him and Bryan Mbeumo. I’m looking forward to that battle.”
The Brentford boss also commended Bournemouth’s aggressive playing style and their push for a European spot. A win could move them from ninth place up to fifth in the Premier League table.
“Bournemouth have been really, really impressive. I like the way they press; they press extremely aggressively,” he said. “We need to do well against that pressure. They are very good at playing direct and in behind, which they constantly do and do very well.”
Frank also pointed out Bournemouth’s strength in transitions and their attacking efficiency.
“They are the best team in the league on these half transitions. They pick up the second ball and drive forward with their front four,” he added. “They are having an excellent season, both teams are having an excellent season.”
Brentford will look to return to winning form, while Bournemouth see this as a chance to climb the table with a victory.
