‘I’m delighted to celebrate my first Crystal Palace Premier League goal with my family’ – Nketiah

Eddie Nketiah

English striker of Ghanaian descent, Eddie Nketiah, has expressed delight after netting his inaugural Premier League goal for Crystal Palace during their commanding 4-1 victory over Aston Villa on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

Nketiah, who joined Palace from Arsenal, showcased his striking prowess by converting Tyrick Mitchell’s precise low cross in injury time, marking his first goal at Selhurst Park as a Palace player.

Reflecting on the achievement, Nketiah shared his joy in contributing to the team’s success and celebrating the milestone alongside family, friends, and teammates.

He emphasized the importance of the win, which was their fourth win in five games across all competitions.

The 25-year-old forward, born in Lewisham to Ghanaian parents, has been a significant addition to Crystal Palace’s attacking lineup this season.

Since his transfer from Arsenal, Nketiah has made 23 appearances, netting three goals and providing one assist.

During the post-match interview, Nketiah highlighted the tactical adjustments made at halftime, noting the manager’s emphasis on decisiveness and ruthlessness in both defensive and offensive plays.

“It’s nice to get the win and get my first one in the Premier League (for Palace),” he told reporters.

“It’s a good feeling, and nice to obviously share that moment with my family and friends and teammates, so I’m really delighted.

“(The manager said) at half-time to keep going. Obviously, we had moments, obviously slight tactical tweaks we had to make, but yeah, it was really just to be decisive and ruthless in the boxes. I think we defended really well at most times and limited them, but we had chances we didn’t probably take in the first-half.”
