Everton winger Coby Ebere says he is “buzzing” after signing a new two-year deal that will keep him at the club until June 2027.
The highly-rated teenager put pen to paper on a fresh contract following a challenging period with injuries, and is now focused on working his way toward the senior team.
Born in Germany to Nigerian parents and raised in England, Ebere is eligible to represent all three countries internationally.
However, the 19-year-old remains uncapped at youth or senior level. In a previous interview, he confirmed that international commitments remain on hold while he focuses on his club career.
“My aim is to make the step up to the main team of Everton,” he said.
Ebere first joined Everton’s academy at age 11 and has risen through the youth ranks to the Under-21 side, where he impressed in the second half of last season following a long spell on the sidelines.
“I’m buzzing to extend my deal, based on the fact I’ve had a hard 18 months,” he told evertonfc.com. “It shows the Club has got faith in me – and I know I can repay it.”
He praised the support from Everton’s coaching staff, particularly Under-21s boss Paul Tait.
“Taity has been really good with me, working in detail and getting me back to where I need to be.”
With the new season approaching, Ebere is aiming to earn regular game time and edge closer to senior involvement.
“We’ve got a great group of players in the Under-21s and hopefully we can show that,” he said. “The aim now is to get as many games as possible and get as close to the first team as I can.”
