Ilunga Kitoko: DR Congo defender joins RFC Luttich from Tirsense on long-term deal

RFC Luttich have signed DR Congo centre-back Ilunga Kitoko from Portuguese side Tirsense on a move that sees the 22-year-old commit to the Belgian club until 30 June 2028.

The left-footed defender, who turns 23 next February, switches to the Challenger Pro League after a breakthrough campaign in Portugal’s third tier. He joins RFC Luttich as a specialist in the heart of defence and is contracted for the next two seasons.

Kitoko arrives from Tirsense, where he had been playing since the start of the 2025-26 season. He previously made the step into Portuguese football from Joli-Site on a free transfer and has since built his reputation in senior European competition.

Last season in the Campeonato de Portugal Serie A, Kitoko featured 18 times and accumulated 1,294 minutes of football, underlining his status as a regular starter across the league campaign. That run of games helped establish him as a consistent option at centre-back and brought him to the attention of clubs outside Portugal.

Born on 21 February 2004, Kitoko represents DR Congo and is naturally left-footed, a profile that offers RFC Luttich additional balance in central defence. His move also marks a further step in his career, progressing from domestic football in DR Congo to Portugal and now Belgium’s second tier.

Kitoko’s transfer from Tirsense to RFC Luttich is effective immediately, with the defender now tied to the Challenger Pro League club until the summer of 2028.
