Iliman Ndiaye sets sights on trophies after choosing Manchester City

Iliman Ndiaye says he “wanted nothing else” after completing his move from Everton to Manchester City, with the Senegalese forward already feeling closely involved in his new club’s long-term project.

Ndiaye has begun a new stage of his career at Manchester City after leaving Everton. The move represents the start of a journey stretching towards 2031, and he says there was no uncertainty when the opportunity to join the Sky Blues was presented to him.

The 25-year-old believes Manchester City’s recent achievements and history made the decision straightforward. He was also impressed by the club’s plans for the future and the part he could play in helping the team realise them.

“I think it is quite easy to decide whether you want to become a Manchester City player or not,” Ndiaye said, in comments reported by Wiw Sport.

“You only have to look at the recent seasons and history to want to be part of the project. I was told about the project, our future prospects and what we could achieve together, the team and I. I was attracted from the beginning; I wanted nothing else but to join Manchester City.”

Ndiaye has made winning trophies his primary target since arriving at Manchester City. Although he also hopes to enhance his personal reputation, he insists individual ambitions must remain secondary to the success of the team.

The Senegal international said a collective focus should shape the way the players approach their work. In his view, commitment and effort follow naturally when everyone is working towards the same objective and representing the supporters.

“Wherever you are, you want to win trophies and you set yourself personal goals,” he said. “But the team’s objective comes first above all else. When you think about the collective, working hard comes naturally. If you have the right mentality acting for the team and the supporters individual achievements eventually arrive by themselves.”

Ndiaye’s comments underline his enthusiasm for the direction of Manchester City and his willingness to prioritise the club’s wider aims. Having only recently arrived from Everton, he says he already feels settled in Manchester and committed to the project put before him.

His immediate focus is therefore on contributing to the team and helping Manchester City compete for silverware. The forward believes personal recognition will follow if he maintains the correct attitude and works for the benefit of the squad and its supporters.

For Ndiaye, the attraction of the move was linked not only to Manchester City’s past success but also to what he believes the club can accomplish in the years ahead. He has made clear that joining the Citizens was a deliberate choice, driven by the opportunity to become part of that future.
