Ilias Akhomach receives Morocco call-up ahead of Gabon clash

Morocco coach Mohamed Ouahbi has called up Villarreal winger Ilias Akhomach to join the national team camp ahead of the Atlas Lions’ 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Gabon.

Akhomach has been invited as Ouahbi continues to prepare his squad for Friday’s opening qualifying fixture.

The Villarreal player is expected to join the Morocco camp as the national team steps up preparations for the meeting with Gabon.

Morocco continue preparations in Maâmoura

The Atlas Lions held another training session on Tuesday, September 22, at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmoura.

The morning session focused on further technical and tactical work as Ouahbi and his coaching staff continued to implement their preparations for the upcoming fixtures.

Morocco will face Gabon at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on Friday, September 25, in their opening match of the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.

Final training session before Gabon game

Morocco will hold their final training session on Thursday, September 24, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.

The session will begin at 17:30 local time, with the first 15 minutes open to media representatives.

Akhomach’s arrival adds another option to Ouahbi’s squad as Morocco prepare to begin their qualification campaign on home soil.
