Ilan Kebbal, attacking midfielder for Paris FC and Algerian international, has spoken with striking honesty about what it means to wear the Algeria shirt, using the example of Maxime Lopez to underline his message.

In an interview with Le Carré, Kebbal insisted that commitment to the national team should never be in doubt for any player called up.

“For Ilan Kebbal, the question of commitment does not even arise when it comes to wearing the national jersey. If he is called up to the national team, Maxime Lopez will give 3000%. When you put on the jersey, you give your all on the pitch, that’s the most important thing,” reports the article, highlighting his belief that representing Algeria goes beyond football. It is, he stresses, a moral duty towards the country and its passionate supporters.

His words come as debates regularly resurface around dual-nationality players and their attachment to the team. Lopez, who plays at a high level in Europe, is often mentioned as someone who could add real technical and tactical quality to Algeria’s midfield, and Kebbal wanted to remove any doubts about his potential commitment.

Drawing on his own sometimes difficult career path, Kebbal underlined that competition in the national team is fierce but necessary to raise standards, and that every called-up player must arrive ready to push their limits, regardless of reputation.
