Ikenna Owusu joins Bitterfeld-Wolfen after FCM Schwerin II exit

Dutch-Nigerian midfielder Ikenna Owusu has joined 1. FC Bitterfeld-Wolfen from FCM Schwerin II on a free transfer, adding a 21-year-old defensive midfielder to the club’s squad.

The move was completed on 21 August 2026, with Owusu switching to the side known as Bitterfeld-W. The club competes in the Verbandsliga Sachsen-Anhalt, giving the player a new setting after his spell with FCM Schwerin II.

Owusu’s preferred role is defensive midfield. He is listed at 1.85m and holds Netherlands and Nigeria nationality, providing a clear profile as a central player who operates in front of the defence. His arrival comes at the start of the 2026-27 campaign.

He had not made a competitive appearance for FCM Schwerin II during the current season before departing. The available record for the opening two possible matches shows no appearances, goals or assists, while he had not been named in the starting XI.

Owusu joined FCM Schwerin II on 1 September 2025, also on a free transfer. His move to Bitterfeld-Wolfen therefore represents his second club change since entering the recorded senior-career pathway, with both switches completed without a fee.

The transfer gives Bitterfeld-Wolfen a young option in a specialist midfield position as the club competes in the Verbandsliga Sachsen-Anhalt. For Owusu, it marks a fresh start after one season with FCM Schwerin II and places him at a club competing at the same level of German regional football represented by his new side.

His arrival is recorded as a completed free transfer, with no loan arrangement or transfer fee attached. Owusu is now a Bitterfeld-Wolfen player.
