Ihlas Bebou: Germany centre-forward linked with F. Düsseldorf switch

Ihlas Bebou has been linked with a return to Fortuna Düsseldorf, with the Hoffenheim forward reportedly a 30% possibility to leave the Bundesliga club for the 2. Bundesliga side.

Reports in Germany suggest Düsseldorf are monitoring the 31-year-old as they weigh up experienced attacking options, with Bebou’s situation at Hoffenheim under scrutiny and the prospect of him moving on – or eventually becoming a free agent – not being ruled out. Transfermarkt currently lists his market value at €1.00m, a figure that would make any deal relatively low-risk for a club operating outside the top flight.

Bebou, who can operate through the middle as a centre-forward and is right-footed, has been with Hoffenheim since moving from Hannover 96 in 2019. Before that he made his name with Fortuna Düsseldorf, progressing from their youth ranks into the first team after spells with VfB 03 Hilden and Garather SV at youth level.

Born in Aledjo Kadara on 23 April 1994, Bebou holds both Togo and Germany nationality, reflecting a career built entirely in German football so far. His peak market value with Hoffenheim reached €16m between 2021 and 2022, but has steadily declined in recent years, with the most recent update in June 2025 rating him at €1m.

The forward’s career path shows a steady climb: youth football at Garather SV and VfB 03 Hilden, then Fortuna Düsseldorf’s U18 and U19 sides, promotion to the Fortuna first team, a move to Hannover 96 in 2017 and the step up to Hoffenheim two years later, with regular action in the Bundesliga along the way.

No agreement has been announced and there is no confirmation of contract terms, but a switch to Düsseldorf would mark a return to familiar surroundings and a drop to the 2. Bundesliga that could offer more playing time. If the move materialises, it may give Bebou the platform to extend his career at a competitive level and reshape how his later years in German football are viewed.
