Ignatius Osei-Fosu signals readiness to Coach Ghana’s Black Stars

Ignatius Osei-Fosu, assistant coach of Sudan’s national football team, has expressed confidence in his ability to manage Ghana’s Black Stars if given the opportunity. Partnering with Kwesi Appiah, Osei-Fosu played a key role in Sudan’s successful qualification for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with notable performances including earning four points against the Black Stars in Group F.

Speaking to 3 Sports, he shared his aspirations while emphasizing the value of his learning experience under Kwesi Appiah.

I think I need to learn more from Kwesi Appiah.

But if he says, ‘Ignatius, you’ve been with me for one year now, and the Black Stars are calling you, I think you’re ready,’ I will take the job because tactically, I am capable of handling the Black Stars,” Osei-Fosu stated.

Sudan’s qualification, alongside Group F leaders Angola, highlights the tactical proficiency of the coaching duo.

However, Osei-Fosu’s ambition to helm Ghana’s national team comes at a time of uncertainty.

Reports suggest the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is inclined to retain Otto Addo as head coach despite the team’s underwhelming performance in the AFCON qualification campaign.

As Ghana’s football governing body deliberates on the Black Stars’ leadership, Osei-Fosu’s credentials and achievements could position him as a strong candidate for the role in the future.

His experience with Sudan, combined with his tactical readiness, underlines his growing reputation in African football management.
