Just weeks after narrowly missing out on a high-profile move to Paris Saint-Germain, Idrissa Gueye once again finds himself at the center of transfer speculation. According to his agent, Thierno Seydi, the Everton midfielder is firmly back on the market and could be one of the most sought-after players in the upcoming summer transfer window.

During the January transfer window, PSG made a strong push to bring the Senegalese international to the Parc des Princes. Sporting director Antero Henrique and head coach Thomas Tuchel identified Gueye as a key reinforcement for their midfield, impressed by his ball-winning ability, work rate, and tactical discipline. However, despite the Parisian club’s insistence, Everton remained reluctant to part ways with one of their most influential players mid-season. As a result, the transfer never materialized, leaving Gueye to finish the campaign in England.

While the failed move initially came as a disappointment for the player and his entourage, Thierno Seydi now views the situation from a much more positive perspective. Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, Gueye’s agent explained that the strong interest shown by a club of PSG’s stature has only enhanced the midfielder’s reputation on the European stage.

“It’s true we would have liked him to go to PSG,” Seydi admitted. “But this approach gives him the visibility to play for the best teams in the world. I’m convinced that big teams will now be interested in him.”

Indeed, the January saga placed Idrissa Gueye firmly in the spotlight. Widely regarded as one of the Premier League’s most consistent defensive midfielders, the former Aston Villa and Lille player demonstrated his value through strong performances with Everton. His ability to break up play, cover ground relentlessly, and provide balance in midfield has not gone unnoticed by Europe’s elite.

Seydi believes that, despite missing out on the PSG move, Gueye has lost nothing in the long run. On the contrary, the attention surrounding the failed transfer may actually work in his favor when the summer window opens.

“It’s a shame he didn’t go to PSG,” the agent continued, “but in the end, he hasn’t lost everything, because at the end of the season, he’ll be one of the most sought-after players.”

At 29 years old, Gueye is entering what many consider the prime years of a midfielder’s career. With significant experience at both club and international level, including major tournaments with Senegal, he represents a reliable and proven option for clubs seeking immediate impact rather than a long-term development project.

Although he stayed at Goodison Park in January, signs suggest that his future may not lie with Everton. The Toffees, aware of the growing interest in their midfielder and the potential financial benefits of a sale, are reportedly open to listening to offers this summer. With his stock higher than ever, Everton could look to capitalize on his market value.

As the season draws to a close, Idrissa Gueye’s name is once again expected to feature prominently in transfer discussions. Whether PSG will reignite their interest or other European heavyweights enter the race remains to be seen. One thing, however, seems certain: after the January saga, the Senegalese midfielder is unlikely to lack suitors when the transfer window reopens.
