Idrissa Gana Gueye joins Le Mans FC investor group

Senegal midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye has joined the group of investors at French club Le Mans FC as he expands his involvement in football beyond his playing career.

The Senegal international has become part of the club’s shareholder group alongside former Brazil international Lucas Leiva, adding two experienced football figures to Le Mans FC’s investment project.

The club’s growing group of sporting investors also includes Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, tennis player Novak Djokovic, former Formula 1 driver Felipe Massa, Formula 1 driver Kevin Magnussen and Georgios Frangulis, alongside OutField.

Gueye’s decision to invest in Le Mans FC is linked to his desire to use the experience he has gained throughout his career to contribute to the club’s sporting ambitions.

The midfielder has played in France, England and at international level, representing clubs including LOSC Lille, Everton and Paris Saint Germain.

His involvement is also expected to help Le Mans FC strengthen its links with football in West Africa, particularly Senegal.

Gueye has already taken steps to support the development of young players in his home country by launching his own football academy in Senegal.

That project could provide opportunities for greater cooperation around the identification and development of young African talent, while his involvement with Le Mans FC could further connect the French club with the region.

“I am proud to join the Le Mans FC project as an investor. The club has a strong identity, a real ambition and a clear commitment to developing talent,” said Gana Gueye, who intends to put his experience and networks at the service of the club.

The Senegal international will also be involved in the club’s plans to increase its presence in West Africa, particularly through the For Hope Campus.

His role therefore extends beyond financial investment, with his playing experience and connections expected to form part of Le Mans FC’s wider sporting project.

Lucas Leiva, who previously played for Liverpool and Lazio, will also contribute his football experience following his arrival as an investor.

The former Brazil international is expected to focus mainly on areas including player recruitment and development.

Le Mans FC is using the arrival of the two former internationals to continue building a project around people with different sporting backgrounds and international connections.

Gueye’s involvement gives the club another link to African football, while Lucas brings experience from European and international football.

The club’s latest additions are part of its continued efforts to develop its sporting structure and expand its network.

With Gueye and Lucas joining the investor group, Le Mans FC now has two more former international players involved in its project, with both expected to contribute their experience and contacts to the club’s development.
