Togolese international Farid Zato clinched his first trophy last Sunday in Iceland.
Playing for defending champions KR Reykjavik, Zato helped secure victory in the Super Cup with a 2-0 win against FRAM, the holder of the Icelandic Cup. This triumph signifies the start of the season in Iceland, with matches set to commence on May 4. KR Reykjavik, with Zato on their roster, will kick off their campaign with a home fixture against Valur.
Zato’s stint at KR Reykjavik marks his third spell in Iceland. Previously, he featured for HK Kopavogur in the second division and Vikingur Olasvik in the first division.
A former player of Dynamic Togolais, a club in Togo’s top division, Zato earned his first call-up to Togo’s senior national team during the 2014 Brazil World Cup qualifiers, where the Hawks secured a 2-1 victory against DR Congo.
