Ibrahima Konate in advanced talks over long term Liverpool contract extension

Ibrahima Konate is edging closer to clarity over his Liverpool future, with contract talks progressing on a long-term deal that could keep him at Anfield until 2030 or even 2031.

The French defender’s current agreement runs only until the end of this season, and both club and player are expected to resume negotiations after the Champions League quarter-final second leg against PSG.

Reports from RMC Sport suggest discussions are moving in a positive direction, although several details still need to be ironed out, including the structure of bonuses and performance-related add-ons. Liverpool are keen to secure the 26-year-old’s services for the prime years of his career, while Konate is understood to be open to staying, provided the final package matches his expectations.

Konate has already made 44 appearances in all competitions this season, underlining his status as a key figure in Liverpool’s defence despite some inconsistency and fitness issues.

Tying him down to a new long-term contract would offer valuable stability at the back as the club plans for the next phase of its project, even as outside noise continues around his performances and potential interest from abroad.
