Ibrahima Conte: Guinea defender joins Zakho SC from Al-Minaa SC in Iraq Stars League move

Guinea centre-back Ibrahima Conte has joined Zakho SC from Iraq Stars League rivals Al-Mina’a SC in a confirmed transfer. The 30-year-old, who plays primarily at the heart of defence, links up with his new club ahead of the forthcoming domestic campaign.

Conte’s switch keeps him in the Iraqi top flight, moving directly between two clubs in the Stars League. The deal was finalised on 26 July 2026, with the defender now registered as a Zakho player. The transfer is a completed move between the two sides, with no details publicly released on the structure of the agreement.

Standing at 1.91m and favouring his right foot, Conte brings notable physical presence to Zakho’s back line. Born in Conakry on 3 April 1996, he represents Guinea and adds international experience to his new team’s defensive options.

The move also comes at a time when Conte’s market value is listed at around €500,000, underlining his status as an established senior defender rather than a developmental signing. His arrival from Al-Mina’a SC gives Zakho a ready-made option in central defence as they prepare for another season in the Iraq Stars League.

Conte officially became a Zakho SC player on 26 July 2026 and will now continue his career in the Iraq Stars League with the northern club.
