Ibrahim Salah sent off as Al Ahly take control of Zamalek derby

Ibrahim Salah, Zamalek’s coach, was sent off during the Egyptian Premier League meeting with Al Ahly after protesting against the referee following Al Ahly’s second goal.

The dismissal came in the sixth round of the league, with Al Ahly leading Zamalek 2-0.

Salah confronted Slovenian referee Rade Obrenovic after the second goal was awarded. It was the second time he had been dismissed in consecutive matches, having also received a red card against Zed in the opening game of the group stage of the Egypt Capital Cup.

Al Ahly took the lead in the 39th minute when Mohamed Hany struck from outside the penalty area.

The visitors doubled their advantage in the 80th minute through Algerian forward Monsef Bekrar, who finished with a low shot from outside the 18-yard box after being set up by Zizo.

The result leaves Al Ahly third in the Egyptian Premier League with 13 points, level on goal difference with second-placed Zamalek.

Pyramids lead the table with a perfect record of 15 points.
