Ibrahim Salah makes Royal Antwerp switch as Moroccan-Belgian winger arrives from Basel

Ibrahim Salah has joined Royal Antwerp from Basel, with the Moroccan-Belgian winger completing a loan move to the Belgian club until the end of the 2026-27 season.

The 24-year-old left winger’s agreement runs until 30 June 2027, with the loan scheduled to end on 30 June 2027. Salah returns to Belgium after spending the previous season with Basel, who signed him from French club Stade Rennais for €2m on 1 September 2025.

Salah began his senior career with KAA Gent, moving from the club’s under-21 side into the first-team set-up in July 2022. He later joined Rennes for €6.5m in January 2023, before spending time on loan at fellow French side Stade Brestois during the 2024-25 campaign.

He returned to Rennes at the end of that loan before making the permanent move to Basel. Now, the forward has switched to Royal Antwerp, bringing him back to the Belgian league where he previously developed through the youth systems of Beerschot and Gent.

Born in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, Salah is 1.86m tall and prefers to play on the left side of attack, despite being right-footed. His arrival gives Antwerp another wide attacking option for the new season.

Salah is also a winner at international youth level, having helped Morocco Under-23s claim the Africa Cup of Nations title in 2023. The tournament victory is the only achievement recorded in his career honours.

Royal Antwerp have secured Salah’s services for the 2026-27 campaign, and the player is contracted to return to Basel when the loan expires.
