French-Ivorian defender Ibrahim Karamoko targeted by Genoa and RC Lens
French-Ivorian defender Ibrahim Karamoko could be set for another career move this summer, with Genoa and RC Lens reportedly monitoring the Standard Liège centre-back following an impressive season in Belgium.
The 24-year-old has steadily raised his profile since returning to Belgium in January 2025, establishing himself as an important figure at Standard Liège and attracting attention from clubs seeking defensive reinforcements ahead of the new campaign.
According to reports, both Genoa and RC Lens have identified Karamoko as a potential target, although the Italian side appear to be leading the pursuit.
Genoa are said to have already begun gathering information on the defender as they assess the possibility of opening negotiations in the coming weeks.
Karamoko’s performances over the past season have not gone unnoticed, with his consistency helping him emerge as one of the most closely watched defenders at the club.
His development since arriving back in Belgium has strengthened his reputation and increased interest in his services.
For RC Lens, the search for defensive reinforcements has become a priority following the departure of Malang Sarr.
The Ligue 1 side, who finished second in the French top flight and secured qualification for next season’s Champions League, are understood to be exploring several options to strengthen their back line.
Karamoko has reportedly been added to that shortlist as the club looks for a player capable of maintaining defensive stability while competing on multiple fronts next season.
Despite growing interest from abroad, Standard Liège remain in a strong position regarding the player’s future. The Belgian club extended Karamoko’s contract until 2030 in November, giving them significant leverage in any potential transfer discussions.
As a result, any club hoping to secure his signature may have to meet substantial financial demands before Standard consider a sale.
The former Torino and Guingamp defender featured in 33 matches across all competitions this season and scored once in the Jupiler Pro League. According to Transfermarkt, his current market value is estimated at €3 million.
For now, Karamoko remains a Standard Liège player, but with interest intensifying from both Italy and France, his future could become one of the notable transfer stories of the summer window.
