Ibrahim Hassan confident Egypt can overcome tougher World Cup path
Ibrahim Hassan believes Egypt’s journey to the 2026 World Cup is far more challenging than in previous years, but the national team manager insists the Pharaohs are ready for the fight.
Speaking after his side’s 2-0 win over Ethiopia in Group A on Friday evening, Hassan expressed his delight with the result that kept Egypt five points clear of Burkina Faso before a decisive clash next Tuesday.
“We are happy with the victory because it maintains the point difference between us and Burkina Faso at 5 points before facing them next Tuesday in their home stadium,” he said.
Hassan underlined the importance of the next match, describing it as a tough battle since Burkina Faso will be playing at home for the first time in the qualifiers. He stressed that the squad, led by Hossam Hassan, is determined to deliver victory.
“Our goal is to defeat Burkina Faso to secure qualification,” he noted, praising Egypt’s blend of European-based talent and domestic league stars.
Hassan ended by reminding fans: “The competition has become more difficult, as most African teams have professional players based in Europe, unlike in the past. The qualifiers are not as easy as some people claim.”
