Ibrahim Diabate linked with Erzurumspor loan move
Ibrahim Diabate could be on the move again, with Turkish newcomers Erzurumspor reportedly interested in signing the Gais striker on loan.
The approach would give the forward an opportunity to restart his career after a difficult spell in Spain and test himself in Turkey’s top division.
Diabate enjoyed a remarkable Allsvenskan campaign last season, scoring 18 goals for Gais. That total earned him a share of the league’s Golden Boot alongside Djurgarden forward August Priske, underlining his quality in front of goal.
His form attracted attention from abroad, and Diabate joined Spanish club Alaves on loan during the winter. However, the move failed to produce the desired impact, and he returned to Gais after the agreement expired.
A permanent continuation in Gothenburg does not currently appear likely. Instead, another loan is considered the most realistic solution, with Erzurumspor now emerging as a possible destination. Turkish journalist Resat Can Ozbudak of Spor Depor reports that the newly promoted club has expressed interest in taking Diabate temporarily.
Erzurumspor have reached Turkey’s top flight this season and could offer the striker an important role as they fight to establish themselves among the country’s elite.
