Ibrahim Adel features as FC Nordsjælland beat Brøndby to go top of Danish league

FC Nordsjælland moved to the top of the Danish league with a convincing 3-1 victory over Brøndby in the sixth round, with Egypt international Ibrahim Adel playing for 69 minutes.

The result took FC Nordsjælland to 13 points from five matches, leaving them first in the table with a game in hand. Brøndby remain on 13 points but sit third on goal difference, behind both FC Nordsjælland and Viborg.

Alexander Lind gave FC Nordsjælland the lead after 12 minutes, finishing a move created by Joho Lahtinenmaki. The hosts then extended their advantage 10 minutes later when Justin Janssen scored following an assist from Ronar Robinson.

Brøndby were unable to find a response before half-time, while FC Nordsjælland maintained control of the match after the interval. Their advantage was confirmed in the 83rd minute when Hilti Poy Rasmussen scored the third goal.

Patrick Mortensen pulled one back for Brøndby in the first minute of added time, but the late goal did not change the outcome. FC Nordsjælland held on to secure an important victory and move clear at the summit on goal difference.

Adel’s involvement lasted 69 minutes as FC Nordsjælland completed a result that strengthened their position at the top of the competition. The Egyptian international was part of the side that built a two-goal lead inside the opening 22 minutes and remained ahead for most of the contest.

The win also ensured that FC Nordsjælland kept their advantage over the other leading sides despite Brøndby matching them on points. With one match still to play, FC Nordsjælland have the opportunity to consolidate their position as the Danish league campaign develops.

Their next fixture will be against FC Copenhagen on Thursday, when they return to action in the seventh round of the Danish league. Brøndby’s position remains third after the defeat, while Viborg are level with the top two on 13 points and continue to challenge for first place.

FC Nordsjælland’s three-goal performance was built around an early attacking burst. Lind opened the scoring in the 12th minute, Janssen doubled the lead in the 22nd, and Hilti Poy Rasmussen restored the two-goal margin late in the game after Mortensen had reduced Brøndby’s deficit.

The final score gave FC Nordsjælland a significant result in the race at the top of the table, while Brøndby were left to settle for a narrow defeat despite their late attempt to make the closing stages more competitive.
