Ibou Sawaneh is staying in the Belgian top flight by joining RS Waasland-Beveren on a three-year deal. After Oud-Heverlee Leuven’s relegation, the Gambian striker is returning to a familiar club where he played from 2006 to 2008.
His recent journey included stints at Kortrijk, Mechelen, Mons, and a second spell at Leuven, where he had a strong 2012-2013 season with 17 goals. He also had a brief attempt in Qatar before returning to Belgium.
At Waasland-Beveren, Sawaneh will reunite with coach Ronny Van Geneugden, who previously coached him at Leuven, which could help him settle in quickly.
