I would have stayed at PSG all my career if I hadn’t joined Real Madrid – Kylian Mbappé

Kylian Mbappé's legal battle against PSG faces setback

French-Cameroonian forward Kylian Mbappé has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) would have been his lifelong club if not for the allure of Real Madrid.

Speaking after joining the Spanish giants on a free transfer in June 2024, the 25-year-old reflected on his seven-season stint with the Parisian club, where he emerged as their all-time leading scorer with 256 goals in 308 appearances.

Mbappé, who moved to PSG from AS Monaco in 2017 for €180 million, secured multiple domestic titles but fell short of delivering the club’s elusive UEFA Champions League trophy.

“I spent 7 years at PSG, it was an honour. I think I haven’t said it enough, nor have I shown it enough, but I have always been aware of where I am and what a great club PSG is,” Kylian Mbappe said in his recent quoted by tribuna.com.

“I have always said that it is the biggest club in France and one of the best in the world. I went to the biggest club in the world [Real Madrid].

“I have always said that it was the only club I would have left PSG for. If I couldn’t have gone to Real Madrid, I would have stayed.

“I would’ve stayed at PSG all my life. I dreamt of playing there and I am very happy. But, of course, I always watch PSG games, I have friends in the team and they are playing well at the moment.”

Despite a successful run, Mbappé’s exit was contentious. The forward sued PSG over unpaid bonuses, eventually winning the case.
