Moroccan-born attacker, Lamine Yamal has confirmed that he will extend his stay at FC Barcelona.
The 17-year-old’s contract at the Catalan club is set to expire in 2026.
Yamal has enjoyed a superb start to his career with Barcelona and has contributed five goals and 10 assists in the league this season.
In an interview with CNN, Yamal says he hopes to extend his stay at Camp Nou.
“I don’t know when [the contract will be signed], but I believe it’ll be soon,” he said.
“In the end, Barca is the club of my life. I hope to renew my contract with them and to be with them as long as possible.
“I want to play in the Spanish league. I want to play for Barca, and yes, I will renew my contract. I will.”
Barcelona are currently third in La Liga, five points behind league leaders Real Madrid.
Yamal believes Barcelona’s players need to remain focused if they are going to win the league this year.
“In the end, La Liga will be won against the teams we’ve previously lost to,” he said.
“I think it’s about focus. We’ve shown in the important moments that we are the best and we’ll continue to do so.
“It’s true that Hansi [Flick] is a different coach. The style of play is different. We’ve looked to adapt to what he’s told us, and I think we’re doing it well.
“In 2025 we’ll give it our all to win trophies, starting with the Spanish Super Cup and hopefully, it will be the best year of our lives.”
Yamal capped his remarkable rise to the top of professional football by winning Euro 2024 with Spain last summer in Germany.
The promising attacker was on the scoresheet as Barcelona defeated Athletic Bilbao to book a place in the Spanish Supercopa finals on Wednesday.
