Chico Banza vows to play for Zamalek only in Egypt

Angolan forward Chico Banza insists he will only play for Zamalek in Egypt despite expressing admiration for certain Al Ahly stars.

The 27-year-old joined Zamalek in summer 2025, with his current contract expected to elapse in 2029.

In an interview with MBC Egypt, Banza opened up about his future, and experiences in Egyptian football since joining the White Knights.

“Throughout my time in Egypt, I will only play for Zamalek,” he said.

However, the Angolan international admitted there are several players from Al Ahly whose quality he deeply appreciates, specifically naming Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, and Emam Ashour.

“I hope to play alongside Zizo, Trezeguet and Imam Ashour because they are great players,” Banza stated.

Despite identifying those names, the winger insisted that he does not spend much time focusing on rival clubs or other footballers, stressing that his concentration remains entirely on Zamalek and improving his own performances.

“I don’t follow other teams or professional players. I only focus on Zamalek,” he explained. “I know Al Ahly has great and distinguished players, but I don’t remember the names.”
