Morocco U-17 head coach Nabib Baha says he will not try to overburden his players ahead of their game against South Africa.
The two sides will clash in the quarter-finals of the ongoing U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament at the Stade El Bachir, Mohammédia, with kick-off scheduled at 19:00 GMT.
Speaking ahead of the game, Baha said he understands the team’s fans’ desire to advance to the semifinals and eliminate a rival that has recently been a stumbling block for Moroccan football across all categories.
“I have great appreciation for the Moroccan fans who expect a lot from this team, but I try as much as possible not to burden the players with more than they can handle because they, in turn, want to give Morocco a gift by winning the Africa Cup of Nations,” Baha continued in televised statements.
“The preparations were ideal, not just before the match, but before the tournament as a whole, so we are ready for the match and confident that we will complete the mission as planned.
“Support is what we need, just as we expect patience from the fans. Quality is present, as is competence, but the competition is fierce,” he added.
