Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal has sent a bold message to fans, declaring his hunger for silverware as he enters a new chapter in his young career.
The Spanish international, who is of Moroccan and Equatorial Guinean descent, celebrated his 18th birthday on Sunday and used the occasion to outline his personal ambitions for club and country.
Despite his youth, Yamal has already emerged as a key figure for both Barcelona and Spain, earning global praise for his performances at Euro 2024.
Asked about his goals for the year ahead, Yamal made clear that he has no intention of slowing down.
“At 18, I ask for what I had at 16 and 17, but also for the titles I still lack: obviously the World Cup and the Champions League,” he said.
The La Masia graduate underlined his competitive spirit, noting that he is driven by the desire to achieve immediate success.
“My mentality tells me I have to go and win. I don’t think about the fact that I still have so many years to play: I want to win now and I’ll give everything to achieve it,” Yamal added.
Barcelona have endured a turbulent period on and off the pitch in recent seasons, but Yamal’s emergence has been a bright spot for the Catalan giants.
He remains central to their plans under new manager Hansi Flick, who has made no secret of his admiration for the winger’s attacking quality and maturity.
“To all the ‘culers’ I tell them that we’ll be there, we’ll fight, there’s no doubt that the Champions League will come home, and I’m also aiming for the World Cup,” Yamal concluded.
His words have reignited hope among Barcelona fans as the club prepares for a new season with renewed ambition.
