French-Ivorian striker Ange-Yoan Bonny joins Inter Milan after impressive season with Parma

Ange-Yoan Bonny says senior teammates Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram have already given him invaluable guidance as he begins life at Inter Milan.

The 21-year-old striker described their words as “like advice from older brothers” as he adapts to his new challenge in Serie A.

Bonny, who is of Ivorian heritage but represents France at youth level, joined Inter this summer after leaving Parma. His move came under the influence of former Parma coach Cristian Chivu, now working with the Nerazzurri setup.

Bonny admitted he had other options but insisted signing for Inter was an easy choice.

“Several teams wanted me, but I had no doubts: when Inter comes after you, you don’t think twice. This club was what I wanted; I wanted to live my childhood dream here,” he said.

The striker revealed a strong personal connection with Inter, recalling how his first football shirt, bought by his mother when he was six, was an Inter jersey.

“As soon as I signed, I posted a photo of myself as a child in the Nerazzurri jersey on social media: it was destiny,” he added.

Bonny explained how he observes Martínez and Thuram closely in training to improve his own game.

“I always study them, trying to understand the details, the way they move with and without the ball. I do it to try to one day get close to their level: right now I’m a long way off,” he noted.

According to Bonny, both strikers have offered him two simple but powerful lessons. “The first, ‘have fun.’ The second, ‘always look for the goal,’ because we’re strikers and we’re also judged by our goals.”

The young forward now hopes to make the most of his time under their mentorship as he builds his career with Inter Milan.
