Chelsea’s decision to cut short Mamadou Sarr’s loan spell at RC Strasbourg during the winter transfer window was driven by a clear and immediate request from head coach Liam Rosenior, who insists the defender was needed straight away at Stamford Bridge.
The Senegalese centre-back had been spending the season in Alsace when his sudden recall to London raised questions, particularly given the timing of the move, which was completed at the very end of the transfer window.
