England defender of Ivorian descent, Marc Guehi, has opened up on his failed move to Liverpool last summer.

According to the highly-rated centre-back, he was able to shift his attention back to Crystal Palace without difficulty.

Guehi saw his transfer fall through on the final day of the window but says he stayed grounded throughout the saga.

“I think everyone has the perception that it was difficult,” the Palace captain told Sky Sports.

“Actually, it wasn’t difficult. It wasn’t difficult at all. Because when you focus on what’s most important, it becomes easy.”

Guehi added that his faith helped him navigate the situation.

“I know God has a plan for me, and whatever it is, it will come to pass eventually. But my goal and focus have always been to play football and give my best. And luckily, I can do that with people like Max [Lacroix],” he said.

Although he was expected to remain at Palace until his contract expired in hopes of securing a stronger deal as a free agent, the decision appears to be paying off.

Guehi has become a central figure in a Palace side that has broken into the Premier League’s top four, a rise that further boosts his value as one of the club’s most influential players.
