Uncertainty surrounds Borussia Dortmund, but Karim Adeyemi insists his ambitions remain unchanged despite growing speculation over his future. With negotiations over a new deal reportedly at a standstill, the winger has moved to steady the narrative, making clear that his immediate focus remains on performances rather than transfer headlines.
Adeyemi’s current contract at the Westfalenstadion runs until 2027, yet reports in Germany suggest discussions over improved terms have failed to progress.
That impasse has fuelled talk of a potential summer exit, with figures of around €60 million mentioned as a possible valuation should Dortmund decide to cash in.
Speaking to Ruhr Nachrichten, the 24-year-old German international of Nigerian descent acknowledged the fluid nature of the situation without offering definitive clarity.
“In football, everything can change very quickly. It could all be decided in a month or two – maybe even in the next couple of weeks,” he said, underlining how swiftly circumstances can evolve. He was equally candid about the limits of his influence, adding that “the decision isn’t mine alone” and that multiple factors must align before any outcome is reached.
Despite the noise, Adeyemi was firm in rejecting suggestions of unrest.
“My focus is here. I’ve never said I feel uncomfortable or anything like that,” he stated, pushing back against claims that he is seeking a route out of Dortmund. The Germany international’s message was measured but deliberate: he remains committed to the club’s objectives while broader discussions continue behind the scenes.
Crucially, Adeyemi framed his future around ambition rather than geography.
“My goal has always been to compete at the very top,” he explained, though he stopped short of linking that aspiration to any particular destination. Instead, he stressed the importance of collective progress. “We’re focusing on ourselves, doing our own thing. If it works out well in the end, great. We have to stay true to ourselves, perform well, win games – and then we’ll see where we stand.”
Those comments leave Dortmund at a crossroads. The club must decide whether to renew their investment in one of their most explosive attacking talents or consider a sale while his market value remains high. Adeyemi, for his part, appears content to let performances dictate the next chapter. “I have a clear goal – and I’ll announce it again every year as long as I play here,” he said.
