Nigerian attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi has said scoring twice against Brighton felt like he was fighting for his life in Fulham’s impressive 3-1 victory on Thursday.
Reflecting on his first goal, Iwobi noted the importance of pressing Brighton’s defense, capitalizing on a mistake from goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen just four minutes into the match.
After Iwobi’s opener, Brighton fought back, equalizing through Carlos Baleba early in the second half.
Fulham regained the lead when Matt O’Riley inadvertently scored an own goal. Iwobi then sealed the game in the 87th minute, showcasing his skill by curling a stunning shot from outside the box.
“I felt like I was fighting for my dear life trying to get the ball off one of the players,” Iwobi mentioned about his second goal.
“Then when I got a bit of space and time, I tried to keep myself composed and hit the target. There was a little deflection but they all count as long as they go in, I don’t mind.”
With upcoming fixtures against Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea, Fulham will rely on the Super Eagles midfielder to maintain his form in these challenging matches.
