I don’t think the team is sick, it’s a question of dynamics – Marseille coach Habib Beye

Habib Beye is preparing for his first game in charge of Marseille this Friday night against Brest and has delivered a firm message to those who doubt he is ready for the job.

The former OM right-back and captain insisted his path into management has been built patiently and deliberately over time.

“What I built is in time. I took my first experience in the national team. I’ve taken the time to go step by step. I have nothing to prove to anyone. If I’m here, it’s because I’ve worked and I have to prove that this work can meet the goal,” Beye said in his press conference.

He also underlined how deeply he understands the club and the city from his playing days.

“The aura is huge and it has not changed. We must feel this city, we must incarnate it. My advantage is that I feel these values to pass them on my group,” he explained, before rejecting the idea that OM are in crisis.

“I don’t think the team is sick, it’s a question of dynamics… It’s still an evolution in my career and I have to assume, but I have no problem with that. I feel ready for this. You have to know how to accept this pressure.”
