Former Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba, has disclosed that he is fielding offers from numerous clubs as he prepares to re-enter professional football.
This development follows the reduction of his initial four-year doping suspension to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
The CAS determined that the 2018 World Cup champion’s ingestion of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) was unintentional, leading to the reduced suspension.
Pogba, who was born in France to Guinean parents, expressed his eagerness to return to the pitch after the prolonged absence.
“First of all, I can’t wait to play. You know, it’s been so long since I played football. I never imagined I’d be free at this time of the season,” Pogba told GQ.
“I’ve never really experienced a transfer like this. Today, there are offers. Coming from all over. From all over. I want to see what suits me best. Because I am in a crucial period of my life and career. It’s a decision I’m going to take the time to consider.”
The reduction of Pogba’s suspension came after he tested positive for DHEA, a substance that increases testosterone levels, following a Serie A match between Juventus and Udinese on August 20, 2023.
Initially handed a four-year ban by Italy’s national anti-doping tribunal, Pogba appealed the decision.
The CAS ruling acknowledged that he did not knowingly consume the banned substance, leading to the reduction of his suspension to 18 months, starting from September 11, 2023.
This adjustment allowed Pogba to resume training in January and now eligible for competitive matches after March.
