I can get more from Brahim Diaz - Real Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa

Real Madrid head coach Álvaro Arbeloa acknowledged the need to better integrate Brahim Díaz into the team’s lineup, following the club’s recent setbacks.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Friday’s La Liga clash with Celta Vigo, Arbeloa reflected on Real Madrid’s consecutive losses to Osasuna and Getafe, which saw the team drop from first to second place, four points behind league leaders FC Barcelona.

Looking ahead, Real Madrid will play against Celta Vigo tonight before hosting Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 on Wednesday, March 11.

Despite Díaz’s standout performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations—where he claimed both the silver medal and the tournament’s top scorer award—the Moroccan international has struggled for consistent minutes under Arbeloa, who replaced Xabi Alonso as head coach.

“Surely he’s playing less than he deserves, and that’s my responsibility. I’m sure I can get much more out of him than I currently am,” Arbeloa said.

“It’s something I need to work on, and I will make the effort so that he can give us more than he is, because he has the ability to do so,” he added.

Diaz will aim to get some minutes in the upcoming games.
