France striker of Cameroonian descent, Kylian Mbappe, is backing his countryman, Ousmane Dembele, to win the 2025 Ballon d’Or award.
Dembele, who plays for French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain, was sensational for the club throughout the 2024/25 football season. ‘
He led the team to win a quadruple, including the domestic treble in France and the UEFA Champions League.
Although he is going to miss out on winning the UEFA Nations League with France after Les Bleus failed to make the final of the tournament, many believe Ousmane Dembele has done enough to merit the award.
He, however, faces strong competition from the Barcelona duo of Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.
Although Kylian Mbappe is also in the Ballon d’Or conversation, he wants Ousmane Dembele to win the award, recognising that he has had a better season than him.
“Are we talking about Yamal and Ousmane? Then, I back Ousmane,” Mbappe said when asked who should win the Ballon d’Or.
