Barcelona’s rising gem Lamine Yamal isn’t looking to follow in anyone’s footsteps, not even Lionel Messi’s.
After extending his contract with the Catalan giants until 2031, the 18-year-old winger is focused on building his own legacy at the club he calls home.
Yamal, who has long been regarded as one of the most promising talents in world football, expressed joy and pride in continuing his journey with Barcelona.
“I am very happy to renew with the team of my life; Barça is my life,” he said.
The extension marks a major step in his career, one he hopes will lead to more glory. “Renewing with Barca until 2031 is a big step. I hope it will be a very long road full of victories. I hope to enjoy it even more than last year and continue winning titles.”
As the famed number 10 shirt finds its way to Yamal, he remains grounded yet ambitious.
“Messi paved his own way, I’m going to pave mine.”
Yamal is set to lead Barcelona’s attack in the upcoming season.
