Sudan head coach, Kwesi Appiah, has expressed his willingness to assist the Black Stars in their quest to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
Appiah’s comments come after Ghana’s failure to secure a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
The Black Stars, four-time African champions, finished bottom of Group F with three points after six matches, recording three losses and three draws.
This marks the first time in 20 years that Ghana will miss the AFCON, which will be held in Morocco next year.
Despite this setback, Appiah remains optimistic about Ghana’s World Cup prospects.
Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Asempa FM, he pledged his support for the Black Stars’ World Cup qualification campaign, which resumes in March 2025.
“If you look at the current players, they are good so with any form of assistance, I will be there to support and ensure the team qualify because, at the end of the day, it is about Ghana and not anybody,” he said.
Ghana currently sits second in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers, tied on nine points with Comoros, who lead the group. The Black Stars will face Chad and Madagascar in the upcoming qualifiers.
Meanwhile, Appiah’s Sudan team, the Falcons of Jediane, is leading Group B with 10 points after four matches.
