Mohamed Salah has expressed his disappointment over the lack of a new contract offer from Liverpool, suggesting that he is now more likely to leave the club than stay.
The Egyptian forward’s current deal is set to expire at the end of the season, putting him in the same situation as two other key players, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, whose contracts are also nearing their end.
Despite an outstanding start to the season, with 10 goals and six assists in just 12 Premier League appearances, Salah’s future remains uncertain. Although he shows no signs of slowing down, the 32-year-old has yet to receive a new offer from Liverpool. This has led to interest from clubs in Europe and Saudi Arabia, and Salah could negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign clubs in January.
Following Liverpool’s 3-2 victory at Southampton, Salah, who scored a brace addressed his situation, revealing his desire to stay at Anfield but acknowledging that the decision is beyond his control. He confirmed that no formal offer had been made to him regarding a contract extension.
“I’m probably more out than in! I haven’t received any proposal,” Salah said, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. “We’re almost in December and still no offer to stay at the club…”
“I’ve been at Liverpool for many years. There’s no club like this, but right now there’s no proposal to extend my contract. Ultimately, it’s not in my hands. I’ve loved my time here, and the fans have been amazing, but it’s not just up to me or the supporters.”
“I’m just giving my best because that’s who I am. I’m doing everything for myself and for the club. Am I disappointed? Yes, of course. I’m disappointed with the situation. I’ve yet to see any proposal from Liverpool,” he added.
