I am feeling well and I hope to return soon - Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat after returning to Real Betis after successful surgery

Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat has returned to Sevilla to begin the final stage of his recovery from a foot injury that has sidelined him since late November 2025.

After undergoing surgery in the Netherlands in late January, the Moroccan international arrived back in the Andalusian capital on March 2, 2026, to continue his rehabilitation under the supervision of Real Betis’ medical and coaching staff.

Amrabat is set to start an individual training programme at the Ciudad Deportiva Luis del Sol, focusing initially on running and conditioning exercises before gradually rejoining full team sessions.

“I’m feeling well; I hope to return soon and help the team,” he said upon arrival, adding that he will start with running and individual exercises before progressing toward full training.

The 29-year-old sustained the injury during a match against Utrecht in late November, an incident that also forced teammate Isco off the field, who subsequently required surgery.

Amrabat spent several weeks in the Netherlands for rehabilitation, and his return to Sevilla represents a key step toward resuming competitive action.

Coach Manuel Pellegrini and Betis supporters view his comeback as a boost ahead of the decisive closing months of the 2025-26 season, with critical fixtures looming in both La Liga and the Europa League.

While he will initially work individually, the pace of his progress will determine how soon he can be fully reintegrated into the squad. Having played only 11 matches this season due to injury and his AFCON commitments, Amrabat’s return promises to reinforce a midfield that has felt his absence in recent months.
