Hull City launch probe after new signing Robinio Vaz targeted by racist abuse

Hull City have condemned racist abuse directed at new signing Robinio Vaz on social media and confirmed they are working with authorities to identify those responsible.

The newly promoted Premier League club said on Thursday that it would provide full support to the 19-year-old French striker after he was targeted online.

“No individual should ever experience discriminatory abuse, and ⁠the club will provide Robinio with our full support,” Hull said in a statement.

The club added that it had begun working with Humberside Police and other relevant authorities to trace the accounts behind the abuse and ensure those responsible face appropriate action.

“We are ‌also working with Humberside Police and other relevant authorities to identify the accounts responsible for this disgusting abuse, so that appropriate action can be taken against those individuals.”

Vaz joined Hull on deadline day

Born in Mantes-la-Jolie, France, he is of Bissau-Guinean and Senegalese descent through his parents.

Vaz completed his move to Hull on transfer deadline day, joining the Premier League newcomers on loan from Italian giants AS Roma.

The teenager is regarded as a promising attacking talent and has now moved to England as Hull prepare for their return to the top flight.
