Hugo Ekitike says Liverpool’s 6–0 Champions League win over Qarabag was exactly the kind of game where he expected himself to score, but insists his main priority remains helping the team.

The striker netted twice at Anfield and provided an assist, thriving on the space Qarabag left in behind.

“It’s the kind of game where I backed myself to score. I just try to go through my action and put the ball in the net and that’s what I did,” Ekitike explained, noting that the Azeri side’s high line suited his pace. He added that he always tries to stay calm in front of goal because chances can be missed, and that he wants to keep scoring for the team.

Asked if he had set a personal goal tally, Ekitike replied that he has not, stressing that making Liverpool win is what matters most. He pointed out that even when he does not score, he can still contribute through assists and intelligent runs.

The Frenchman also praised his coach’s faith in him, saying he prepares for every game to be ready whenever selected and always gives “100 percent” to help the team win.
