Hugo Ekitike makes strong case as Liverpool’s top striker – Alan Shearer
Liverpool’s attacking options have come under spotlight after Premier League legend Alan Shearer voiced support for Hugo Ekitike to be the club’s number one striker.
Ekitike, signed from Eintracht Frankfurt for £79million, has wasted no time impressing supporters and pundits, scoring six goals in 12 matches across all competitions.
“I think that Hugo Ekitike has already done enough to become Liverpool’s number one striker for me, forget the price tags and everything else,” he said
“He came in before anyone and obviously had scored the goals and looked really good in that position,” he added.
His consistent threat in front of goal, alongside clever movement, even when shifted wide, has convinced Shearer the French forward deserves a regular starting place, regardless of transfer fee comparisons.
Meanwhile, Alexander Isak, Liverpool’s other major summer signing, has yet to find his feet at Anfield, netting just once in the Carabao Cup. Shearer believes Ekitike’s work ethic and ability to seize opportunities make him the ideal choice for manager Arne Slot’s setup, even if rotation will be necessary amid a packed fixture calendar.
The debate among fans continues, but Ekitike’s dynamic link-up play and strong finishing have earned widespread praise. With Liverpool chasing trophies on multiple fronts, supporters are excited by the growing partnership and potential between their new strikeforce
