Hugo Broos, the head coach of the South African national team, expressed confidence in his players’ ability to spring a surprise and overcome the Nigerian team in tomorrow’s match, which will be held as part of the semi-final round of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Broos stated, “Makusu’s journey with the team in the tournament has come to an end due to the muscle injury he sustained, but he will continue to be with the team in the camp.”
He added, “The semi-final match holds special significance, and we can achieve a surprise and surpass the Nigerian team.”
Furthermore, he remarked, “The Nigerian team has improved throughout the tournament, and I watched their previous match against the Angolan team in the semi-finals.
We will face the Nigerian team for the second time in a short while, as part of the World Cup qualifiers.”
When asked about the possibility of retirement after the tournament, Broos replied, “I am not considering retirement from coaching at the moment.
I love my work and I love football immensely.
After 36 years of coaching, it is natural to contemplate retirement, but not at the present time.”
The South African national team will face the Nigerian national team tomorrow at 7:00 PM Cairo time, as part of the semi-final stage of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
